A practical plan for this area
Choose Fernandina Beach for a town-and-history stay, or a beach address when the shoreline is the main reason for the trip. Pair the Amelia Island Museum of History with a meal in town; give Fort Clinch its own outing instead of treating the island as one walking circuit.
Getting there and back
Arrange the airport or road transfer to the actual accommodation. Plan a separate journey to Fort Clinch and the return before booking a town meal. A hotel’s Amelia Island address does not establish walking distance to Fernandina’s center.
Before you book
Check the museum’s tour format and the state park’s current access information. Compare parking, room location and beach access at the hotel before paying for a rate that may serve a different type of stay.
If plans change
If beach conditions are poor, use a confirmed museum visit and a town meal. If park access changes, keep the historic-center day rather than substituting an unverified outdoor route.
